Sofia composting plant becomes a member of Austrian Quality Assurance Organisation for compost – “ARGE Compost & Biogas Austria”.

The Sofia composting plant becomes a member of the Austrian Quality Assurance Organisation for compost “ARGE Compost & Biogas Austria”. With this the composting plant Han Bogrov implements the external quality assurance scheme for compost run by “ARGE & 100-NGO”. After positive certification the composting plant will be awarded with the Quality Label for compost which also applies for the operational quality management system. ARGE Compost & Biogas Austria was the first national quality assurance organization which was certified by the European Compost Network – ECN QAS.

Preceding first certification, the composting plant must successfully pass the recognition year in compliance with BG Ordinance on treatment of biowaste and the Quality Assurance Scheme of “ARGE & 100-NGO”. This includes on-site quality inspection and quality testing of at least 4 compost samples (one in each season). After successful assessment by the Quality Committee of both, test reports on the quality criteria as required by the BG Ordinance and internal QM procedures regarding process management and documentation, quality label and certificate is officially approved. The compost produced in composting plant Han Bongrov has been already successfully sampled and analysed 3 times by an accredited Austrian laboratory. The last quality check during the recognition year was done in June. The final inspection protocols and all test reports are expected by End of August 2015, approval by the Quality Committee as well as awarding of quality labels of Austrian Quality Assurance organization “ARGE” and conformity label of “100NGO” for compliance with national legislation in September 2015.
